COUCHED STAINED GLASS WORKSHOP - This is a technique learned from Deb Cavanaugh of Spring Green WI and taught with her permission. Yarn is used rather than bias tape to create the stained glass leading and allows tighter curves than the fusible bias and gives the look of true stained glass. Any pattern designed for the bias technique can be used as well as patterns designed for actual stained glass. Using yarn for the leading is a fun and amazingly fast technique to give a truly different look; quilting of the piece can be done before or after the yarn is added and in some cases the yarn is all the quilting that is needed.

STAINED GLASS QUILT TECHNIQUES -
This program will cover a variety of quilting techniques including quick bias, paper piecing, reverse applique, and the too easy method from Patchwork Studio patterns. Samples of the various techniques will be shown as well as a number of suggested books and/or patterns for your investigation. You can obtain the beauty of stained glass in anything from a table runner to wall hanging to full size bed quilt.

TRUNK SHOW -
This program includes many of the techniques which I have used over the years for both quilts and wearable pieces.  SUGGESTED BOOKS (not required):

· BORDERS The basics & beyond by Jill Reber, Laudauer Publishing
· The Border Workshop by Janet Kime, That Patchwork Place
     ·  Borders by Design by Paulette Peters, That Patchwork Place
     · Illustrated Guide to Borders & Binding by Sandra L Hatch, House of White Birches
Sensational Sets & Borders Ed. Sally Schneider, Rodale Press Inc

We have all admired those quilts with amazing borders in shows and told ourselves we will try something like them on one of our quilts. Then the project begins and we either forget or the time crunch catches us and we do the simple border/binding or we don't have a clue where to begin. If you fit any of these categories then this workshop may be for you. We will create samples of several different borders that you can add to your quilts to give them a whole new look. If you find yourself wanting more ideas and details then the first two books on my suggested references are ones you may want to add to your library.

Pull out that box of scraps you have and cut strips or squares as given in your supply list then join us for an afternoon of exploring new ideas for borders and creating a sample collection to refer to when making your next quilt top.
